Drawing on examples from German democracy education, the Staff Week gives teacher educators from various European countries the chance to share ideas on how to implement democracy education in different contexts, identify similarities and differences across Europe, and gain inspiration for their own teacher education activities.
The keynote will be given by Prof. Dr. Monika Oberle. Since April 2024, Oberle has been a professor of political science specialising in social science education at Goethe University Frankfurt. Prior to that, she held the professorship for Political Science/Didactics of Politics at Georg August University in Göttingen for a good 12 years. She studied political science in Marburg, London and Berlin and was a research assistant in the Department of Political Science and its Didactics at the Karlsruhe University of Education from 2006 to 2011, where she also received her doctorate. She will talk about “Education for Democracy: Concepts, Principles, Approaches” during the Staff Week .
Her keynote speech is open to the university community; however, registration is kindly requested.
